Pursuit of Eyeballs

>In this article regarding the revolution of news media and the media convergence, Joel Achenbach lists several examples of how current media emphasizes on page views, and how some utilize tricks to enhance them. He uses a satirical voice to strike on the quantity-over-quality trend of the media, that consider heavily on page views, which Achenbach calls “eyeballs,” than quality of news delivery to the readers.

Of course, news organizations and publishers have to earn money from advertisers by putting advertisements in articles. However, it is not pleasant to see the ads often dominating the majority of computer screen estate than the actual article that I meant to click into, and I wish writers and publishers come to the moderation between the commercialization and literary effort to satisfy both the readers and themselves.
